Alang – Madan – Kulang Trek
AMK trek is one of Maharashtra’s toughest and most thrilling high-altitude treks. Located in the Sahyadri ranges, it features rock climbing, rappelling, exposed traverses for experienced trekkers seeking extreme adventure and breathtaking views.
Overview
AMK is undoubtedly one of the most demanding and considered to be one of the toughest treks in Maharashtra. If you haven’t done it you haven’t finished trekking in Maharashtra. This trek is the test of your mental & physical stamina, confidence & endurance. This massive range of trio forts provides you some of the great scenes in Maharashtra. All three forts stand high with the towering height more than 4800 ft providing scenery that you will never forget.
Alang – Madan – Kulang Trek Event Details :-
- Difficulty Level: Difficult

- Food Arrangement: Take a packed lunch and drinking water along. It’s a long trek.
- Transport: Limited frequency of ST buses are available till the village road end
- Height of forts: 4852 – 4841 – 4822 ft
- Base Village: Kulang Wadi

- Route from Pune: Pune – Nashik phata – Narayangaon – Kotul – Udadhawane – Alang
- Route from Mumbai: Mumbai – Kasara – Sakurli – Ambewadi – Alang

- Total distance for climbing: Day: 1, 2 and 3 approx 7km, 5km, 6 km respectively.

Advisory:-
- Pay head to the trek leader or instructor to enjoy a safe and sound trekking experience.
- Do not consume alcohol or any other intoxicants during the trek.
- Avoid trekking during the night.
- Before undertaking the trek, consult a physician.
- Carry basic medications and a first-aid kit during the trek.
- The trek takes place through an eco-friendly zone; do not encourage littering at the local sites or campsites

Night 1
10:00 PM – Departure from Pune
04:00 AM – Reach Ambewadi Village
Rest at the temple for 2–3 hours
Day 1 – Alang Fort
07:30 AM – After breakfast, start trek towards Alang Fort
10:00 AM – Reach the base of the technical rock patch
Packed lunch break while trek leaders prepare the climbing setup
04:00 PM – Complete the climb and reach the top of Alang Fort
Enjoy a breathtaking sunset with views of Kulang, Madan, Kalsubai
Keep luggage in the caves and explore the Alang fort plateau
Dinner and overnight stay in the caves
Day 2 – Madan Fort
Early morning wake-up call
After breakfast, start descending Alang Fort
Exciting 70 ft rappel down the rock patch
Traverse towards Madan Fort and reach the climbing section
Lunch break
Climb Madan Fort and reach the summit
Immediately begin descent back to the col (saddle)
Dinner and overnight stay in the caves
Day 3 – Kulang Fort
Early morning wake-up call
After breakfast, begin descent
Move towards Kulang Fort
Lunch break
Climb Kulang Fort and reach the summit
Descend back to the base village
Tea break and start return journey
Dinner on the way
